The Best Klaviyo Alternatives for Ecommerce in 2026
If you want the closest ecommerce alternative to Klaviyo, Omnisend is where we would start.
It covers most of the core ecommerce jobs brands use Klaviyo for, including campaigns, automations, segmentation, forms, reporting and SMS, while generally costing less.
But there is no universal best Klaviyo alternative.
The correct alternative depends on why you want to leave Klaviyo in the first place.
If the problem is price, one answer may fit.
If the problem is SMS, another platform may be stronger.
If the problem is paying for a huge database you rarely send to, the pricing model itself matters.
And if Klaviyo is working well?
Staying on Klaviyo may still be the best alternative to migrating.

This is not an objective ranking from one to six. It is a use-case shortlist.
Before Looking for an Alternative, Ask Why You Want to Leave
This is the part most Klaviyo alternatives articles skip.
They assume:
You searched for an alternative, therefore Klaviyo must be bad.
We do not agree. Klaviyo is still our default for sophisticated ecommerce brands, as we explain in our Klaviyo review.
So before comparing platforms, define the actual problem.
Common reasons include:
- profile-based pricing is becoming expensive
- the team uses only a small part of the platform
- the workflow feels unnecessarily complicated
- another platform offers a better SMS setup
- the database is huge relative to sending frequency
- support requirements have changed
- the brand wants fewer tools
- an integration requirement changed
Then evaluate alternatives against that problem.
Otherwise you can spend months migrating and end up with the same retention problems in a different dashboard.
1. Omnisend: The Closest Like-for-Like Alternative
If an ecommerce brand wants to replace Klaviyo without abandoning the ecommerce-first model, Omnisend is the first platform we would evaluate.
We work inside both.
The biggest thing that surprised us about Omnisend was how small the practical capability gap often feels for normal ecommerce work.
It supports:
- campaigns
- automations
- segmentation
- forms
- SMS on the appropriate plan
- A/B testing
- reporting
- ecommerce integrations
We actually prefer Omnisend's workflow for setting up certain A/B tests.
We also find that some reporting insights are surfaced more quickly than in Klaviyo.
Where we still prefer Klaviyo:
- overall platform depth
- complex customer-data requirements
- flow overview
- sign-up form experience
- broader ceiling as lifecycle complexity increases
So our rule is: do not move a healthy Omnisend account to Klaviyo without a reason, and do not move a healthy Klaviyo account to Omnisend simply because Omnisend is cheaper.
For the full side-by-side, read Omnisend vs Klaviyo and our breakdown of Omnisend pricing.
2. Sendlane: Interesting When the Database Is the Cost Problem
Sendlane has a fundamentally different pricing angle.
Its current positioning is: pay for sends, not profiles.
The platform advertises unlimited profiles and asks brands to price around normal sending volume.
That can become interesting when:
- your historical customer database is large
- the active sending audience is much smaller
- you dislike paying purely because more profiles exist
- sending volume is relatively predictable
Sendlane is also ecommerce-focused and includes capabilities around:
- SMS
- forms
- behavior-based automation
- segmentation
- testing
- real-time analytics
- Shopify and WooCommerce data
This does not automatically make it cheaper.
A brand that sends huge email volume needs to model the send-based economics carefully.
But if the reason you dislike Klaviyo is specifically:
Our stored database is expensive even though we do not market to everybody.
Sendlane deserves a look.
3. Attentive: Strong When SMS Is the Center of the Program
Attentive built its reputation around SMS and has expanded into a broader omnichannel platform including:
- SMS
- RCS
- push
- identity
- customer data
- cross-channel journeys
- AI-powered personalization
It currently advertises more than 100 integrations.
We would consider Attentive most seriously when:
- SMS is strategically important
- the brand has meaningful scale
- cross-channel identity matters
- hands-on support is important
- the program is larger than a basic email operation
Attentive does not publish simple self-serve pricing in the same way Klaviyo, Omnisend or Shopify Messaging do, so this is typically a sales-led evaluation. Do not assume it is cheaper than Klaviyo without an actual quote.
4. Drip: Strong for Ecommerce Email Automation
Drip remains explicitly focused on B2C and ecommerce email marketing.
Its product includes:
- behavior-based workflows
- customer segmentation
- onsite forms
- ecommerce integrations
- automation templates
- reporting
- testing
Drip advertises more than 200 ecommerce integrations and supports platforms including Shopify, WooCommerce and BigCommerce.
It can be a good fit when the brand wants:
- ecommerce-specific automation
- strong email workflows
- less emphasis on building a broad B2C CRM
- a platform designed around ecommerce rather than generic newsletters
For brands with more than 17,500 contacts, Drip currently advertises free migration and personalized onboarding.
Drip is not one of the platforms we manage day to day, so treat this as a product-fit assessment rather than first-hand operating experience.
5. Mailchimp: Better for Broader General Marketing Needs
Mailchimp is not as ecommerce-specific as Klaviyo.
But it is far more ecommerce-capable than its old reputation suggests.
It has:
- a direct Shopify integration
- ecommerce customer and order data
- behavioral automation
- product recommendations
- segmentation
- SMS
- more than 300 integrations
Mailchimp becomes interesting when the business wants a broader general marketing platform and the ecommerce lifecycle itself is not especially complicated.
For a sophisticated DTC retention program, we would still prefer Klaviyo.
For a simpler company that also values Mailchimp's wider marketing ecosystem, it can be enough. We compare the two directly in Klaviyo vs Mailchimp.
6. Shopify Messaging: The Honest Answer for Simple Shopify Stores
Not every store needs a dedicated enterprise-style ESP.
Shopify Messaging is now broader than the old Shopify Email product.
It can support:
- SMS
- automations
- campaigns
directly from the Shopify admin.
The current email pricing is also extremely straightforward:
- first 10,000 email sends per month are free
- after that, brands pay based on send volume
- initial additional email pricing starts at $1 per 1,000 sends
- volume pricing decreases at higher thresholds
For a sophisticated retention operation, we would still rather have a more specialized platform.
But if a merchant needs:
- straightforward campaigns
- basic automations
- native Shopify operation
- low software overhead
Shopify Messaging can be the rational answer.
There is no prize for having the most complicated tech stack.
What About Brevo, ActiveCampaign, HubSpot and Other Tools?
They can all be good platforms.
But this article is specifically about ecommerce alternatives to Klaviyo.
We would rather give you six platforms with a clear reason to consider them than publish a 20-tool list full of generic software.
Platforms built primarily for:
- B2B sales
- service businesses
- CRM-led lead nurturing
- general newsletters
can still integrate with ecommerce.
That does not automatically make them the best replacement for an ecommerce-first retention platform.
Which Alternative Is Closest to Klaviyo?
For most ecommerce brands: Omnisend.
It is the closest combination of:
- ecommerce focus
- SMS
- automation
- segmentation
- forms
- reporting
- Shopify integration
without requiring a complete change in how you think about ecommerce retention.
That does not mean it has the same ceiling as Klaviyo.
It means the transition in use case is smaller.
Which Alternative Is Cheapest?
There is no useful universal answer, because platforms bill differently.
- Klaviyo
- Primarily active profiles and sends.
- Omnisend
- Billable contacts, with send limits depending on plan.
- Sendlane
- Sending volume, with unlimited profiles.
- Shopify Messaging
- Email sends.
- Attentive
- Custom, sales-led pricing based on subscriber base and messaging.
The platform with the lowest $20 headline can become more expensive at your actual scale. Model the real account.
Should You Leave Klaviyo Because It Got Expensive?
First, check whether you are paying for profiles that should no longer be active.
Long-term inactive profiles can:
- increase platform cost
- weaken engagement
- complicate deliverability

When We Would Stay on Klaviyo
We would stay when:
- sophisticated segmentation is actively being used
- customer data drives weekly retention decisions
- lifecycle flows are genuinely complex
- the integration ecosystem matters
- the retention team knows how to use the platform
- the cost is small relative to the value created
- migration would solve nothing meaningful
Software cost alone should not be optimized in isolation.
A cheaper ESP that causes worse execution is not cheaper.
Our Decision Framework
Before migrating, answer these six questions:
- What exact problem are we trying to solve?
- Which current Klaviyo capability do we actually use?
- Which capabilities would we lose?
- What will migration cost in time and risk?
- How does the new pricing model behave at our real scale?
- Will the new platform make our retention team better at its job?
If you cannot answer number one: do not migrate yet.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best alternative to Klaviyo?
For an established ecommerce brand looking for the closest overall replacement, we would start with Omnisend.
Is Omnisend better than Klaviyo?
Not overall. Klaviyo has the higher ceiling for sophisticated customer data and lifecycle requirements. Omnisend can be a better fit when you do not need that additional complexity.
Is there a cheaper alternative to Klaviyo?
Yes, depending on your list and sending model. Omnisend, Sendlane and Shopify Messaging can all produce different economics from Klaviyo.
Is Sendlane cheaper than Klaviyo?
It depends on sending volume. Sendlane prices around email volume with unlimited profiles, while Klaviyo primarily scales around active profiles and sends.
Should I use Attentive instead of Klaviyo?
Attentive is particularly worth evaluating if SMS and omnichannel messaging are major strategic priorities. It is not automatically the better choice for every ecommerce email program.
Can Shopify replace Klaviyo?
For relatively simple email and messaging needs, Shopify Messaging may be enough. For sophisticated lifecycle automation and customer-data work, Klaviyo is substantially deeper.
